Shadow 1997 - 2010
Shadow passed very unexpectedly on May 1st, 2010. She was 12 1/2 years old. She came into our lives almost as unexpectedly, having been rescued from a puppy mill. She was only supposed to stay the weekend, but ended up staying about 11 years. She was amazingly sweet but was happy to stand her ground if our other dogs thought that she was a push-over because she was small. One quick "BARK!" was all it took. The most endearing memory we have of her is the way she would roll onto her back and "Pony" furiously (waving her front legs at us) whenever she was happy, which thankfully seemed to be often. Shadow, you will be missed by all who knew you. Thank you for the years of joy you gave us.

Nutmeg
Nutmeg was given to me by my mother, twin sister and brother-in-law as a college graduation/Christmas present. She was tiny, as MinPins are at 8 weeks. She fit into the palm of my hand. Nutmeg grew to be a very nurturing, motherly girl, and when she was one I got a second MinPin (Peanut) for her. She herded, mothered, cleaned, watched and cared for Peanut, as well as every other critter in her path- human, furry and feathered. She was my neurotic, loving girl- nervous all the time, but caring and devoted as well. She later adopted two other MinPins and taught them the ways of the house- and I am still amazed that four female MinPins (three of them, rescues- one a puppy mill dog!) could get along like four peas in a pod. I believe that was Nutmeg's natural mothering instinct- she taught her pack how to behave, and behave they did. She lived a long, full life- almost 16 years- and she will be dearly missed by all her family- canine and human.

Roxeanne
Roxeanne Abel-Ellsworth "Bunny" 8/31/00 - 6/24/2009
We lost Roxeanne about a year ago. We adopted her from the Alexandria shelter in 2000. She was a unique character. She was part manx so she had a "bunny tail". She was a great cat. She was extremely playful like a kitten even in her older years. We loved Roxeanne very much. She was a blessing to us. WE MISS HER!

Bailey
I never thought of myself as a dog person. Sometimes if I think about it too hard I'm still not sure if I am. What I am sure of is that I am a Bailey person. The first time I saw Bailey's picture, she was 9 weeks old at the time, I knew we were meant to be together. From the minute she came into my life and my home she was an absolute joy to have around. From sneaking into work with me one day to meet my friends and co-workers to spending time with family and friends either at my home or theirs when I was out of town (or when they just wanted to spend some time with her) she immediately won a place in the heart of everyone she met. Bailey taught me a lot about dogs and about myself and I will always remember and be grateful for having had her in my life. She was a sweet, gentle, lovable puppy who left this world much to soon, just one day shy of turning 13-months old.

Simon
Simon Chase "Mr. Simon" Uricoechea: February 8, 1996 - November 21, 2010 "He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion." - Author Unknown...we sure will miss you puppy love Simon

Duchess
Here are two pictures of Duchess Flynn for the Burke Veterinary Clinic memorial.. The first is Duchess with her best friend -- Riley our Golden Retriever. The second is a typical picture of Duchess pampering herself. Thank you for your support and the care you gave Duchess. Sincerely, Dan Flynn
Hugo
Hugo: March 6, 1997-January 22, 2011 Hugo was the puppy that wouldn’t sit still, who could run in circles for hours on end, and most unique about Hugo was that he literally “smiled” as he curled his lips a little when he greeted you. His first love was of course his family (and maybe food ;) ), but a close second was water. Hugo loved to swim and when the weather allowed and almost every day in the summer, Hugo had the pleasure of taking an evening walk and swim in a nearby lake. Hugo was very friendly to humans and dogs alike. We often joke that Hugo was more popular and more well known in our community than we were. Hugo spent 14 amazing years with us and we’ll miss him very much!

Jeter
Jeter found us during an adoption event, a puppy found as a stray. We fell in love with him right away. He grew to be a gentle giant, 108 lbs of pure devotion. He loved rides in the car, long walks to the creek for a swim, and playing catch. He even tolerated the second dog we adopted 5 years later. He was our best friend, guardian, and confidante for 8 years. We miss him very much, but we know he is running and playing at the Rainbow Bridge. Julie Marissa Wolf

Adidas, March 1997-March 21,2011
Adidas, a loyal friend, beloved companion and a loving family pet. We were blessed to have had Adidas with us for 14 years. During that time he taught us what unconditional love is really all about. We will miss him and we will celebrate his life by filling the sad times, which are sure to come, by recalling 14 years of wonderful memories he left with us. Adidas, gone but not forgotten. Cal and Kay.

Cal (circa 1997 - 2011)
Cal was a one-of-a-kind dog - in every way. He came to our family almost 12 years ago after a friend's parents took him in after seeing him wander their neighborhood for several weeks. Skinny, mangy, and flea-infested, we brought him to our house and in no time at all, he proved to be a loyal pet.
Kids came along and he had more people to love and care for him - and bother him too. He had some strange habits and quirks that we'll always remember. Like how he'd take a mouth full of food from his dish to the area rug and eat it there instead of right out of the bowl. And all the food he stole from the kitchen counter - including a stick of butter one Christmas afternoon!
He was a lucky dog to have found a good home. We are a lucky family to have had such a loyal and loving companion. We love you, Cal!
